There are many psychological issues which can drive people to suicide. However, trying to traumatise as many strangers (or people you know) as you can in the process is a bit over the top.

He OD'd, so it wasn't really graphic. Apparently they all watched him laying there not moving for hours until someone noticed his chest wasn't moving and notified the police.
