there are similar examples in Arabic. Shereen would be one that is both masculine and feminine. I am of course assuming the writer is Arab. If so, there is no masculine equivalent of Fatma or any other Anglo spelling one cares to use for that name. I suspect you may have a tranny corresponding with you =)
