given how tight this division invariably is...

how on earth did you think we could finish 14th to 16th WITHOUT being involved in a relegation battle? Teams in those positions are always likely to be a few points here or there from relegation. Unless you thought we'd be near the top all year and then have a catastrophic collapse at the end?
