McCain would have had to foster relationships with this side of the pond to basically prove he wasn't Bush the third (even though he would have been).

Obama knows he has the initial support of the Europeans, and can afford to focus on internal affairs, and that won't help the European economy.

Still glad Obama won though. Would perhaps have preferred Clinton or even in a strange sense Ron Paul.
