I dont honestly see an issue with the reaction either, to be honest

If someone says something that to others is ridiculous, they're not only going to get a disagreement, but also a bit of derision.

If I had said that in the pub for example, I would expect a bit of "f**king hell, were you actually watching the game?" to follow...
