Clearly, the best way for a goalie to influence a result is to stay on the pitch and throw the ball in the net ten times.

However, if he wants to avoid too much scrutiny and still try and change the course of a game - I believe a sending off and a pen away from home is the best way to do it - especially if there is a fair amount of time to go.

I am not saying there was any match-fixing. Just that a sending off and pen is the quickest way to turn the course of a game.

Still, under your rationale, if he had been bent, he'd of stayed on the pitch and dropped the ball in his net twice. No-one would have smelt a rat then...

That's assuming we were going to have two shots.
