Get advice from an accountant (or accountants) - buying a limited company is not as lucrative as it once was (& quite rightly really ...); but the alternative is to work under an umbrella company or - as camcan suggests - as self-employed. They're very different, so you need advice as to which is best for you. I've freelanced in Germany but not in the UK, so I'm not au fait with the British system.

One thing though: get your tax & NI affairs sorted early and don't try to scam them - if you get found out you are f**ked - while the Inland Revenue will sell off their buildings to a tax haven based company (Maperley) and allow the likes of News International to pay no tax year after year; you'll not get away with it.
