Private Eye had a bit on that a couple of issues ago
Apparently BBC journos are pissed off because they're having to file copy in several different media types: radio, TV, internet video, text and for different audiences at different times of the day. Consequently, more time is spent compiling the reports than finding & following up stories or checking sources and facts.
