natural position

i really believe that we should be aiming at play offs every season, (except that the almighty (with hindsight) f**k up that was the Grant appointment has left me thinking that a lower-mid table this season wouldn't be a terrible thing in what i see as a transitional season)

but your post seems to suggest that out natural position can only go up and not down?
