No, they don't take the piss too much.

Nothing non-football related - no marketing texts for other NCFC operations - "Try Delia's new menu in Yellers, thass only noine quid fer a burger".

There have been a couple of texts where I thought "well that was a waste of 25p". Like "Press Conference called for 2pm", then at 13:59 I get "New players signed" - and I think, you could have saved me 25p by just telling me about the player at 2pm, I didn't need to know about a press conference.
