My boy's going over to Dahab for a year to do some Scuba'rin. We'd assumed the cost of running a mobile there would be too high but ...

Is the phone set up the same in Egypt as UK e.g. pay as you go vs contract (he's non resident so I guess contract is a non runner).

How much would he be able to pick a bog standard mobile up for on pay as you go, or could he shove an Egyptian SIM in his uk phone (N95).

How do the call charges compare with the Uk - for calls within Egypt and for calls back to blighty.

This would be useful for us - he's off there in a couple of weeks.
