There appears to be a general assumption that we have no money at the moment

This may be the case but no-one outside the club can really confirm this.
It's been quoted several times that Roeder was told on his appointment that the board would back him financially to build the team that could make a promotion challenge in the forthcoming seasons.
Many comments on this board seem to suggest that the current regime is floundering on it's last legs.
