Thanks for a cogent and rational post on the whole subject.

I agree with almost all you say and would love to see PC assume control with a new management team (not on the football side- I'm very impressed with GR and team so far) and a substantial investment in the playing staff.

Having said that, I'm not entirely happy with either the manner or the timing of PC's announcement and I'm specially not happy that lazy journalism left open the key questions regarding the 'takeover'.

I can't really believe that PC expected the Smiths to walk away with nothing in return for a ?20m player budget. Since nobody bothered to ask him if that was what he meant or whether there was a deal to be done to acquire the shares we don't know how serious he is.

I believe there is a deal to be done between two astute business people and, in fact, if nothing comes of all this, I suspect both PC and the Smiths will feel the Wrath of The Barclay!!
