Go For It!
In many ways, I do admire Archant's offerings and have been known to hold up the EDP as an example of one of the only local papers I know that could be taken on a stand-alone basis while still giving at least an oversight of National and International news.
Ironically their shortcomings probably arise from their strengths- i.e. their strong links to and standing in the local community. I think these do interfere with the objectivity of their reporting and, while this is understandable- don't bite the hand that feeds you (information)- means they pull their punches when there is serious investigative work to be done.
As a journalist, do you recognise any of this as fact and, if so, when are you going to apply for that job in Archant to start the new, crusading EDP!!!
