Over-hyping a la Sky isn't the only alternative though

The coverage of the last African Cup of Nations I watched was a pretty good model - thoughtful, detailed, basically assumed that if you were bothering to watch, you knew something about football and therefore didn't want to be patronised.

Could even add a bit of irreverence / humour for good measure (and I don't mean Lawrensen's crap puns) - eg GUardian football weekly type stuff.

There's loads of ways you could do it better.
