hmmm.........

i drive the A338 to poole and back up through blandford forum and wiltshire to get home, quite frequently.....

if i remember rightly, the area he crashed is really windy and villages suddenly tend to "creep up on you" so you put the anchors in sharpish to avoid speed cameras set to get you as soon as the zone turns 30mph........

he must of been belting along!
