Suspect the reaction is more to do with the player than the level of bid

3.5 million could buy a lot of young potential, yet he takes a chance on a player who was regarded as an icon by the fans of a very big club (no dis-respect).
Not sure he's going to be up for the grind of what is a very difficult league to get out of in front of half-empty terraces.
Maybe he'll prove us all wrong, who knows.
