You hear mumblings that the academy is pretty much a closed shop

- limited to a few clubs who have coaches affiliated to NCFC.

My son plays for one of the biggest clubs in Norfolk (and ever expanding), and in the last three years, over 60/70 games there has only been a rumour that a scout has attended one game. The only lad i know who is a member of the academy has become disillusioned with it by the age of 11! And he really is outstanding.

The Football in the Community scheme that they run is very good but these seem more like fun days out rather than anything else. I believe that these 'open' trials could be a way forward for this age group. Maybe we can't afford the resources.
