certainly not the luck bit. In football if you are lucky in a game it means the other team must have been unlucky. For every winners there's a loser.

The other thing about football is even if every manager of every team is flawlessly brilliant and perfectly supported by his Board, there will still be only three teams that get promoted and three of them (for all their managerial/Board brilliance) will be relegated.

In football you don't always get what you deserve 9in both a good and bad sense)
