Say we'd turned down the deal.
Would posh have wanted him on loan again?
If not what do we do with him then? He's not going to play, and if he doesn't play he doesn't develop, so we end up off loading him for 100K or something, and we all moan about the 300K we've lost.

If posh do take him back on loan and he gets injured, or is poor for the second half of the season, what then?
Again, we don't play him, Posh don't want him, no other champ side would either. WHo else in league 1 would have the clout to offer 400K, and would they want too if he's been injured or struggled. So again, we probably end up offloading for a lot less than 400K and then whinge about the missed opportunity.

Lewis would not be the first player to look great at his age, then never develop past that for the rest of his career. It was a good deal, at the right time, and taking it was the best idea.

There is no way in hell roeder could play him last season, would have been a massive gamble we simply could not take.
