Mrs Git once asked in a pub in Tadcaster whether the roast beef came with vegetables

She was told that it did and ordered it. What arrived was a vast Yorkshire pudding, lined with beef, topped up with potatoes and smothered in lovely gravy.

"Where are the vegetables?" enquired Mrs Git

"There's onions in t'gravy" replied the waitress with withering contempt for the Home Counties nonces.
