Serious suggestions (I do some of this stuff for a living)

* Lose a lot of the links. The ones down the right, for example, to Yahoo, AOL, Paypal etc. If people want to go to the paypal site, they'll just type paypal into the address bar, of use their favourites. It ends up just making your page look cluttered

* Find a nicer colour than dysentry brown for the menu down the left.

* Prioritise the stuff that actually matters. You want people to know about the Kitty, and read its constitution - then make the links to the constitution, and the prize draw more prominent.

* Don't be so keen to include adverts everywhere. You've got two big blocks of google adverts right in the place where the main body of the page ought to be. And then there's the Top Spots thing at the bottom on the right. I don't even know what that is, and I've been looking at it for a while. I'm certainly not going to click on it. Get rid of it, its pointless.

* lose the scrolling marquee at the bottom. Few things say "1995" or "bad design" as effectively as a scrolling marquee.

* think about what the *point* of the website is. If the point is to convince people to donate, then do a selling job on them, tell them why doing so would be a good idea.

* technical point, but get your web design company to invest a bit of time in a Cascading Style Sheet design rather than those nested tables. You would be able to make alterations to the design in a fraction of the time it will take now.
