I don't think its really a question of the debt.

That will limit our spending yes, but no more than many teams.
Obviously those with the parachutes and the likes of QPR will be able to spend more, but I can't see why we should be too far off comparable teams in the league.

For me it is literally just due to the fact our squad is:
a) relatively small
b) Going to reduce when loans return, players move on
c) still lacking some quality and depth.
