Think that's too harsh myself

I wish to God he'd walked away a few months into 05/6 instead of clinging on - but it's the board's responsibility for not taking the tough but necessary decision. I'm also reluctant to ascribe too much blame to someone who remains our best manager since O'Neill (not that there's much competition, mind!)

On Grant: like you, I do feel some sympathy towards him. Some of the signings he made could well have worked - but it was still his choice to bring in Duffy, his choice to slag off players like Croft for 'showboating', at least 50% his responsibility for falling out with Safri, Hux and (it was rumoured) Dublin, his choice to make several off the planet team selections, and his choice to at times resemble a one man slag-it-off-if-it-breathes campaign. Credit to him for walking when he did - I'll always regard him as a good bloke. But one completely over-promoted, way beyond his station.
