That happened to me last night on Football Manager

Trying to sign van den Borre as a replacement for Leigh Bromby at right back for Norwich on the cheap, I foolishly haggled over the price for 2 virtual days. In the end, the £2.2m transfer-listed asking price went up to a non-transfer-listed £5.3m. He is still happily playing for Heerenveen, whilst I struggle on in 15th place in the Prem with Bromby.

Easily done, and Mr Doncaster has my full sympathies.
