The anti-conspiracy theory

1. The current finance director has left for some reason, perhaps career advancement
2. the club therefore needs a new one
3. in order to get the right potential applicants, the advert makes it clear that cash flow management is a key requirement, on account of the club not being overflowing with money. Even if we broke even (and we run at a loss) cash flow management would be very important. This requires one set of skills as distinct from say those involved in the land development projects (I think most of those are now in place) or those at one of the west London billionaires' playthings
4. Every statement made by the club with any mention of money, right down to the price of Mars Bars, is picked over for weeks after on the message boards for evidence of something going wrong, suffcient in itself to justify the note about public scrutiny and comment.

My default position, based on experience, is to assume cock-up rather than conspiracy unless proved otherwise. In this case I detect neither, just a routine ad of a vacancy.
