good questions.

In a nutshell we want intersting places with some history, culture, and 'exploring options'.
Somewhere we can leave the hotel and spend a day walking around, taking in the atmosphere, buildings, and discovering what it has to offer.

Shopping is largely unimportant as is having a massive night time 'scene' (we'll have better things to do at night).
