I agree with Doncaster that the roots of the problems now lie back as early as 2001 when the club was employing Tim Collins as a property consultant, and Cooper was allowing the manager to spend moneys that the club had not yet received (personally I thought that the play-off run and subsequent share issue meant we got away with that, but Doncaster disagrees so I must defer to his inside knowledge).

What you can find still are statements made by the board that are, shall I say, interesting. On my blog are Doncaster's two contradictory opinions on the financing of the South Stand. Interstingly those have now been removed from the official site. Elsewhere the BBC have Delia's statement, made on promotion, that the premiership "windfall" would be used to reduce debt - that would be quite a handy caption to this

I think another fruitful source of enquiry would be the whole issue of safety certificates. We have been repeatedly told that we had to build a new South Stand because the old one could not get a safety certificate. Yet that glorified shed we stood in on Saturday has a safety certificate. So does that horrible stand at Ninian Park. It just seems odd to me. And then there's the issue of competitive tendering - how come it's always Carters?
