So, if the original intention was to have a go at Shepherd, demonstrating how much higher director's pay is at Newcastle as a percentage of turnover when compared to Norwich - omitting the 2006/07 figure for Norwich doesn't hinder that.

More generally, it reads like something produced by a fan - well done by and large, but not something a finance professional might come up with. So for me it still doesn't answer the central question - where did the money go?

And there is a problem which is unavoidable. As your mate quotes, Doncaster stresses the importance of cashflow. Unfortunately we only ever see the cash position on 30th June - when it is at its best (most of the season ticket money just arrived). But as we know, in January 2006 we had a cashflow crisis - but it doesn't appear in the books.

There is, I think, quite a story to tell about our finances, but to tell it I think we'd have had to start researching back when Delia took charge. Much material, notably that from canaries.co.uk has disappeared - for example, Doncaster's contradictory stories about how the South Stand would be financed.
