You can turn off all the Vuze s**t and it does have a port tester.

Azureus sometimes said I had NAT problems and I had to restart to clear it; dunno what the problem was though because so far as I could tell the port wasn't being used by anything else.

Azureus is the only real choice if you're on a Mac though - all the other clients are bobbins.
