In Israel...

...according to a item I saw on Channel 4 news a few days ago, well, in Jersusalem, certainly, they have people at all the bus stops who check and search travellers before they get onto buses-apparantly, everyone there regards it as the norm now.

Claim that violence on buses has fallen drastically as a result, though if someone really wants to do it, I guess they'll just join the queue, and detonate the item then.
