I just fail to see how internal promotion can work in this situation...

If the players weren't playing for Bryan Hamilton (the Manager), what makes people think they'll play for Nigel Worthington (the Assistant Manager brought in by Bryan Hamilton)

If Worthington was any good, he'd have had enough influence over Hamilton to help him be successful here.

No way will we avoid relegation under Worthington, reach the play-off final under Worthington and then get promoted under Wothington
