I just fail to see how internal promotion can work in this situation...

If the players weren't playing for Peter Grant (the Manager), what makes people think they'll play for Jim Duffy (the Assistant Manager brought in by Peter Grant)?

If Duffy was any good, he'd have had enough influence over Grant to help him be successful here.

Also, (think I said this about McClaren after Sven) if we bring him in and really mixes the team up personell and formation-wise, why wasn't he advising Grant to do this before? And if he keeps things the same, we may aswell have kept Grant.

It's got to be a whole new management team with fresh ideas, and an unbiassed view of the players.
