The right money was spent to get us up - but the right money was spent to ensure we went straight back down again.
We all know about the imbalances of our famous 'prudence with ambition' mantra - so why slag off Worthington for saying publicly what we've all known for years?
What is not said very often about Worthington's protracted departure is that the Board probably found it hard to sack him because they hadn't given him all the financial backing he needed.
Not as bad as Chase, but the lack of calculated gambling by the Board certainly contributed to our decline.
