Our new manager

there has been much debate and much talk of a new broom and an external candidate being best.

On a very quick and rough assessment, here is a quick summary of City managers over the last 40 years:

External candidates who were a success - Saunders, Bond, O'Neill
External candidates who failed - Rioch, Grant

Bootroom appointments who were a success - Brown, Stringer, Walker, Worthy
Bootroom appts who failed - Deehan, Megson (twice), Walker, Hamilton

The conclusion is, there is no set pattern. It's all pot-luck.

The current board have made 3 appointments that failed to deliver, they did deliver our BEST EVER season in tier 2 and promotion to the Prem.

And BTW, I am not sure Grant was such a cheap option - he was uber-badged and working for a Prem side. Would the manager of a tier 2 or 3 side really be on bigger money than the West Ham coach?

For my money? Jewell would be OK, but anyone who can turn this shower around would be alright by me.
