you can switch alot sooner than that... I switched from

Plusnet to Bt and it took less than a week.... put in a request to Bulldog for your MAC key NOW. They must supply it within 5 days - should be quicker than that.
In the meantime you have sometime to investigate your options as you can't switch without the MAC key
