Incidentally, I remember how scarily pessimistic so many fans seemed about what would happen if we won the final - but I genuinely don't think that side would've disgraced itself. And Sunderland and WBA were so bad in 02/3 that I've always thought we'd have come 18th: coming down, but with far more conviction to go up and STAY UP in 04/5.

I think there's a strong case to be made that, had we won the play-off final, we'd have gone on to be, say, at least in the position West Brom are now, with two or three seasons' Premiership cash in the bank - so if a miracle happened and we did it this year, I certainly won't be complaining!
