The problem is...
Neither the Doc nor Davenport are consistent performers.
We really need someone who is going to be dependable in that position. It only takes one error to gift a team an effort on goal when you're a CB, and we can't afford to have players who are liabilities (or have the potential to have a howler) playing there.
I'd rather get a proven Championship level performer in, than a Premiership reserve who hasn't really done anything to fulfill his potential.
I'm all for bringing in prospects, but CB is a position where we need solid performances immediately.
