Continue with hands, including a timer/nail gun affair for the final hand, but also have an electronic timer attached to a big solenoid, so that after a few minutes the solenoid fires and bashes the stool out from under your feet.

Hey presto, cross: upright, feet: nailed; arms nailed. Bingo.

For aesthetics you could even have that solenoid (or another one) knock away the rig that's holding the nail gun that nailed your final hand on, leaving an clear view for any spectators.
