the fact that we have the prudent pay-cuts in place (which you praise) is precisely what means we can't keep these players. Players like Safri & Etuhu will be taking a pay-cut this year because our parachute payments have finished, so if someone else offers them what they were getting before (if not more) they are obviously going to want out. That is not the board's fault. Players will generally follow the money and if other teams have more than you they can count on probably being able to tempt them away - that has always been the case. So then it just comes down to how much of a fee you can get for them. If we get £1.5m for Etuhu (which I doubt however), given what we paid for him, that is surely a reasonable bit of business?
