Yeah but the clause wasn't as cut and dry as a min fee but only after 2 seasons of failed
promotion bids. Yes it was punching above our weight, on a premiership quality striker. Yes it was a punt and a gamble that didn't come off but I think incompetance is a bit harsh? We have made our money back and perhaps a bit more and his goals have kept us up in the meantime. Looking back it would have been better to get a couple of young strikers from the lower leagues and strengthened other areas but that was just the board giving worthy what he wanted. i'm sure the board have learnt from this but I don't really think the clause itself has done any damage and I for one am glad he has gone in a way and think we can build a team with the money.
