so what YOU are saying..
is that YOU would have stuck with Worthy until the end of 2005/6then sack him and it is the board's decision to keep him until October that is the source of our problems?
And yet Worthy hardly spent any money between the end of that season and being sacked (Croft?) and the big decisions (such the Earnie sell-on clause) that you are currently moaning about was made by the very managerial regime that YOU would also have had in place at that time.
So it clearly isn't that easy.
Doubtless you would have been the first to moan at the Board for lack of ambition if they hadn't spent any of the Ashton money that transfer window.
If the clause had been revealed at the time of the deal the majority of the whingers on here would have said then "fair enough, if that's what it took to get him here, at least it means we will get the vast bulk of the fee back even if it is triggered".
The Board tried to show a bit of ambition to get him here but it didn't work out. That happens sometimes. "Showing ambition" generally involves paying over the odds and gambling, but it doesn't guarantee success. The Board were ambitious (despite what some t**ts claim) but it didn't come off so now we have to live with the consequences. Deal with it.
