Complecency

The signing of Otsemebor, whilst welcome, is hopefully only the beginning. Other Champioship clubs are making signings and I believe it is these clubs that will be in the shake up come the end of next season. The best way to prepare for a new season is to get your players in early and make sure the get a full pre-season in. Another benefit is giving them time to settle into their new surroundings.

Norwich in recent years have been somewhat complacent in this respect. Worthy was particularly lazy and this attitude has cost us dear. I know some will say it is difficult to do business at this time of year because of holidays etc but that hasn't stopped other clubs.

I know money is also a stumbling block but the bid for Sharp suggests Grant has more funds than many thought he would have. I am realistic enough to know that our chances of success next season are slim. I would settle for clear signs of improvement and maybe a flirt with the playoffs. That won't happen unless significant strengthening takes place and that process has to start soon.

A while back I advocated the appointment of someone to handle transfers. Someone with a good deal of knowledge about the market, has good connections and knows how to talk to agents. Given our ineffectiveness in recent seasons, I still hold that view.
