There are exceptions, but to be brutally frank, most of them are thick as s**t. Whether because they have no mental aptitude for anything else or because to succeed they have dedicated themselves to becoming a pro while neglecting schooling. The intelligent ones are either outspoken critics or so disillusioned they'd rather do anything other than get involved in football administration. It's a bit like politics - it's the ones who want to get involved - the careerists - that you have to watch out for. You need a certain c**tish mindset to be a successful politician and similar is true of football administrators. Indeed anyone involved at the top levels of any industry or business.

Still, George Best could have organised a piss-up in a brewery, so you might be onto something ...
