Leeds etc-My Thoughts...

Its not unknown on here that I have a soft spot for Leeds-I know a lot of their fans, also people who have worked for the club, I have also known some of their players, one was-and is-a good mate, though he doesn't play for them now...

So thats my defence before I stick up for them a little!

On the downside, they have, as has been shown over the last few days, taken full advantage of the FA's lax and shoddy rules and methods/procedures. Its not their fault that this is the case, and you can't blame them or Ken Bates for doing so. But its wrong.

You look at the FA, Football League, Premier League, whatever, then you look at someone like Alan Ball, you think of ex-players like Bobby Moore, Peter Osgood, George Best; plus those great and good still with us, and you wonder, why the f**k aren't they involved with the game, why aren't they helping run it in some way, why weren't they, aren't they asked or considered-or didn't they want to, and, if not, why not?

Shouldn't ex-players be part of the game now-they've played it, understand it, relate to it, and, in some cases, the fans-yet the game seems to be ran by suits who don't have an understanding and who are driven by many more things than what should come first, that is, the game itself.

West Ham and Leeds are two examples this season of matters that have been handled badly. But they are legion, season after season, there are cases that occur, controversy arises, the game suffers. Shouldn't those that run it be brought to account sooner rather than later?

Maybe with people closer to the game it might have been resolved before it became a problem?

Leeds have problems but I know that there are decent people at that club and decent people who support it. Sadly, of their more outspoken fans, you can't even say its a "minority" as there a lot of them. The thought is that this relegation and administration will drive them away from Leeds, but where to and who will suffer next?
