The advantage of using FreeBSD underneath I suppose and should scale ad-infinitum. I guess if one develops using the Cocoa libraries then apps will be too.
Take your point though about hardware. But, then again, you know you're getting very good quality components in a Mac (but my HD did fail not so long ago ...)
How much further can they push it? Who knows - I remember when the Pentium first came out (what? 12-13 years ago?) reading an article saying that they had already hit the limit with the architecture - any further and the CPU would melt through the casing!
