There is no doubt that Martin has blossomed like no other youngster since Sutton, but he only acquired his squad place through default.

Note that Martin played no part in the Tamworth cup tie, even though Earnie was an injury doubt.
And why would we sign Sex Tape if Martin was so close to playing in the first-team?
And Martin's first squad appearance under PG(Plymouth) coincided with the unavailability of UP, Earnie, Chadders, Jarvis & Hendo. Even McVeigh got a start that day.

Sorry, this 'Grant had big plans for him' story is cobblers.
