Get a load of this Thatcher fanatics!
Fans of La Thatch drone on incessantly about how she sorted out the UK economy and restored the UK's economic standing.
In fact (according to OECD figures), using GDP per head as a measurement, the UK ranked 16th out of 25 OECD countries in 1979 (the year of Thatcher's election as prime minister). When Tone won in 1997 the UK remained in 16th position.
GDP per head is the mot widely accepted way of measuring economic growth by the way.
So over an 18 year period during which other countries didn't see the sense in wrecking countless lives and communities, Thatch and the tories managed to increase our relative economic world standing by a whopping zero places.
She was even s**t at the one thing that people always give her credit for.
