I've been highly critical of Hughes in the past -

I still think that he is a very poor player, but today we needed a few battlers in the trenches - cliche alert, sorry.

It was a game I thought where we not going to see a great deal of the ball Hughes worked hard and when he did have it did alright.

One of the best games I've seen him play.
