The point is

that Grant has little money, scottish contacts, and scottish knowledge and is going for what he knows. Otherwise he has to rely on a scouting network that has produced no cheap decent players from a lower league since we signed Adam Drury almost 6 years ago. Or rely on young players from an academy that has produced no-one (because even Shackell was pre-academy).
The point is, as been said over and again, that the whole infrastructure of the club is crap - PG certainly can't fix that in a few months - so it looks like scottish bargains are our only hope to strengthen a team decimated by the ineptitude of the previous manager and the disinterest of the board.
